Kashmir Floods- Life And What It Brings Along

It was exactly a month ago when I, along with my family had gone for an overnight trip to the spellbinding mountains of Kashmir. That time was a blessing since our precedence in life does not allow us to be together quite often. This time, it was after a pretty long interval of time that we were all together. It was, in its entirety a great pleasure trip. The kids had the best time of their lives. We lived those moments in the best possible way. As inconceivable as it may seem, who would have thought about what was going to follow a month later. No one had any idea about how the fate of Kashmir was going to change in such a drastic way.

Whatever is going on in Kashmir, is a cataclysm of heroic magnitude. The death toll has crossed 215. There is no idea as to how many people would meet the same fate. There has been unimaginable damage to property. Some houses have been torn down and some are on the verge of it. As the water levels are receding, dead bodies are being found. Yesterday only, the dead body of a bride clad in her wedding dress, was found in the Bandipora district of Kashmir, which may have flown along with the water, from God knows where. In another incident, two babies were found alive in water tank in similar circumstances. The ones destined to be alive would make it against all odds. Those who have death knell ringing, will have to go, even if the world stands by their side. Predestination, you call it.  Unfortunate though, as the water levels drop off, many such events would be coming to light in the coming days. There is going to be instability of all sorts- physical, emotional, financial and psychological. Such a devastating upshot would take months, if not years, for everything to revert to normal.

Life is peculiar, indeed. There are these things in life which we have no control over, whatsoever. Certain things in life are meant to happen and there is no way we can get away with them. Never do we realize the fact that it is going to be a temporary stay for everyone of us. Everyday we get to learn so much from life but we, somehow tend to ignore it all. Human nature is real strange. Like, seriously!

We can only pray to the Creator to ease our sufferings, give us the strength to overcome this desolation, grant us patience, give magfirah to ones who have died, forgive us, guide us and be with us- always.
