Nineteen Things That I’ve Learned in Nineteen Years

1. You start your life as a cute little kid. You are surrounded by your family right from your start and they are the ones who will stand by your side, no matter what. Your mom will love you against all odds. And so will your dad. Your siblings will look up to you and you’ll have to be their moral support. Your uncles and aunts, grandparents and cousins will be there for you. You will be loved by each and every person in their own way.

2. You will be friends with such people with whom you could display the craziest form of yourself. Every poor joke makes sense when they are around. In fact, there is a joke in every normal situation.

3. School life would be that stage of your life which you would actually miss for the rest of your life. All those moments which have made you the person you are today will be worth remembering. Your achievements and failures, mistakes and bloopers will help a lot in determining how you will act in the future.

4. Some things will happen in your life which will be totally unanticipated. There will be some U-turns which will transform you as a person. You may regret some of your decisions. You may even mock the person you were. But this will be a learning process. It will leave you as a better person.

5. Life will leave you awestruck a myriad of times.

6. As life passes by, you’ll keep on missing those fleeting moments. You will cry. You will laugh. But you will miss it all.

7. Looking at all those lilliputian things which you have treasured for all these years will always give you that strange feeling of happiness. Your old report cards, birthday gifts and certificates will be a great source of felicity.

8. You will derive strength out of yourself in such situations which would have seemed really trying in the beginning. You will feel proud of yourself!

9. There will be such moments in your life when you would get the ultimate contentment after crying out like a baby. Sometimes in solitude and sometimes publicly.

10. There will confusion galore at some particular stage of life. One of those being when you will have to decide on your career (unless you've chalked it out well before in time!).

11. You may fall for someone. Or you may not. But in the end, you will realize that you need to love yourself before anyone else. You will have to realize your self-worth.

12. You may shift places, move to some other cities but you will have that familiar longing and fondness for that particular place where you have grown up. Home, as they say, is where the heart is.

13. You may top in some exam. You may get an unexpectedly low grade. Your companions may be enjoying a better life than you do. What matters in the end is how you have grown as a person. Marks will be mere numbers. You wouldn't care a fig about all this jazz at some later stage of life.

14. Your priorities in life will keep on changing. You will be amazed at how things will be going. At times, your choices will leave you astonished. In spite of this amazement and wonder, the show will go on, in its own way.

15. Time will be running. You will have to synchronize with its pace.

16. People will come and people will go. Departures will be hard to bear but it will be fine.

17. Solitude, at a point of time, will be the seventh heaven for you. You will analyze things better. You will learn a lot.

18. Life may wear you out. You will have to go on. There will be sacrifices in this process. You will overcome difficulties in ways, perfectly designed for you.

19. As time passes by, you will be growing mature with time. You will actually feel this. It doesn't matter if people praise you or do the opposite of it. What you need to do is to compare yourself with your former self. If the analysis makes you feel wonderful- Bravo! You are going real well.

The uncertainty about life will be your constant companion. You will have to strive for the apex of excellence which will transform you into a better human.
